Welcome Back

Our school office will be open during August 28th – 30th for new registrations.

The first day of school will be Tuesday September 5th. This is an important day for students to attend because we count the students and organize our classes during this first week. Please contact the school office if you will be absent or you are moving. Students will be dismissed at 10:00 am on this first day.

Parents are welcome to join us in the Atrium for coffee and to mingle with other families while waiting for children to be dismissed. Coffee hour will be sponsored by the PAC. (Parent Advisory Committee)

First Week of School for 2017

During the first week of school in September Students at South Slope/BCSD will be participating in meaningful activities that provide them with opportunities to get reacquainted with each other and their teachers. South Slope students will be returning to the same classroom they were in last year for this first week. The focus of the first week is to build a cohesive and connected school where all of our children learn, share and contribute to a socially responsible community. Students will remain in these temporary classes until Friday, at which point class organizations will be fine-tuned. New students will report to room 201 with Mrs. Fierro on Tuesday and will be put into temporary classes for the remainder of the week. Wednesday regular school hours apply, 8:55 am – 2:00 pm and 8:55 am – 3:00 pm on Thursday and Friday.

Kindergarten students

Our New Kindergarten students will not attend classes this first week.  The Kindergarten teachers will be meeting with the children and their parents throughout the week. Parents should have received a letter in August with their scheduled interview time and all the other details of our Kindergarten gradual entry program.

School Supplies

Supply list are posted on our school’s website. Kindergarten teachers will send home information regarding supplies and any other important details. Students are not required to bring their full set of school supplies to school during the first week.  Please have your child bring just a small pencil case with pencils, eraser, scissors, glue and crayons for the first week.  (Labeled with names).  All other supplies can be kept at home until students are permanently placed in their homeroom classes.  Individual teachers may request additional supplies that pertain to their programming needs.

We look forward to seeing all of you on September 5, 2017.
